The Musical Instrument Museum, located at 4725 E. Mayo Blvd., was recently recognized by the travel site 10Best.com as one of the 10 best museums for families.  MIM was the only Arizona museum nominated in the 10Best Readers’ Choice contest and was ranked fourth in

The MIM President and Director Carrie Heinonen stated she and the staff were excited to be recognized by the site, along with icons like the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. and the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

Heinonen said MIM focuses on creating a spectacular guest experience that appeals to people of all ages.  She believes this recognition will encourage out-of-state visitors and local residents to visit the museum and take advantage of all MIM has to offer.

MIM has many interactive exhibits and activities that permit visitors to touch and play instruments from all over the world.  Age-specific activities for children are plentiful, including MIMkids Mini Music Makers for children 5 and under that helps develop motor, pre-language and musical skills, as well as a Musical Adventures Series for children 6 to 10 that teaches them about musical cultures.
